F. Thomas Davis, AIA

An Atlanta native, Thomas grew up fascinated with the historic architectural works of J. Neel Reid, Leila Ross Wilburn, and other local giants.  He spent his free time in childhood touring home construction sites and learning about vernacular architecture styles. With the encouragement of his parents and older brother, he began sketching floor plans of the homes in his imagination when he was ten years old.  Over time, his drawings became more detailed and precise, while his designs remained imaginative as ever.  This practice would become a lifelong creative outlet.

After high school, Thomas studied architecture at Northeastern University in Boston, where he honed his technical skills and cemented his love of design.  He was inspired by precedent-setting firms such as McKim Mead and White, while also learning how sustainability and contemporary design inform today’s architecture. During this time he interned at Civitects in Cape Cod, Burt Hill Architects in Boston, Summerour Architects in Atlanta, and Gensler in San Francisco. The diverse experiences gained at these firms taught Thomas how to be disciplined in any studio environment.

During his M.Arch at Northeastern, a “Sustainable Urban Landscapes” course inspired Thomas to return to Georgia and pursue a master of landscape architecture at UGA.  There, he immersed in concepts of site design, grading, and fine gardening.  As an architect, these are skills that he applies daily in the studio, whether designing a mountain house on a steeply sloping site, or a home and garden in Atlanta’s dense urban fabric.

Thomas is a project manager at Reu Architects where he enjoys collaborating with principal Caroline Rolader, AIA. Passionate about the ways thoughtful architectural design can enrich our daily lives, Thomas approaches each project with enthusiasm for the client’s vision and goals.
